This is a category where the visible fabric matters less than three details buyers routinely leave off a tech pack: the waistband construction, the gusset, and the hem. A jogger's waistband is either a folded self-fabric casing with a drawcord threaded through, or a separate ribbed band joined with elastic — the second costs more and holds its shape far longer. Leggings live or die on the gusset: a diamond or triangular panel at the crotch removes the four-seam intersection that otherwise sits under load every time the wearer squats, and it is the single most common reason cheap leggings split. Why do my leggings keep splitting at the crotch?
Almost always because there is no gusset. Without one, four seams meet at a single point directly under the highest load the garment ever sees — every squat, lunge or deep stride pulls on that intersection, and fabric fails where seams converge rather than in the middle of a panel. A gusset is a separate diamond or triangular piece stitched in to move those seams apart and distribute the stress across a wider area. It adds a pattern piece and a sewing operation, so it costs a little more per unit, and it is the first thing removed when a legging is being costed down to hit a price point. If your current supplier's leggings fail in the same place repeatedly, ask whether the pattern has a gusset before you change fabric — the fabric is usually not the problem.
What's the difference between a casing waistband and a ribbed one?
A casing waistband is the self-fabric folded over and stitched down to form a tunnel, with elastic or a drawcord threaded through it — cheaper, faster, and the standard on most joggers. A ribbed waistband is a separate piece of rib-knit fabric joined to the body, usually with elastic inside, and it recovers its shape far better over time because rib knit is engineered to stretch and return while plain jersey or terry is not. The practical difference shows up around wash twenty: a casing waistband on a fleece jogger tends to relax and stop holding the garment up, while a ribbed one still does. Specify which one you want, because if you leave it unstated you will get the casing.

Yes, and sending the actual garment is far more useful than sending measurements. Our technical team can take a reference pair apart on paper, work out the pattern behind it, and rebuild it to your size chart — including the details that are hard to describe in a spec, like where exactly the taper begins and how much ease sits at the thigh. If you only have measurements, we can still work from those, but expect an extra fit round while we resolve the things a flat measurement chart does not capture. Either way the corrected pattern stays yours and carries forward to repeat orders without re-development.
